The Brazilian Amazon

People often ask me what is my favorite place to visit in the world.

That is a difficult question to answer because there are elements and experiences that are unique to each destination that make it special.

One adventure I will never forget is my trip to the Brazilian Amazon.

This was not a luxury trip by any means but it does invoke so many treasured memories. Where else do you get to swim with pink dolphins, go fishing for piranha, take a survival tour of the jungle, hunt for crocodiles, have lunch with a local tribe and encounter some of the strangest vegetation. I shared this journey with my friend Amy, who by any standard, is not a naturalist and shies away from anything not found at Bloomingdales or a gourmet restaurant. Half the fun was watching her revel in the adventure. But that is the whole point… travel gets you out of your comfort zone and provides opportunities to learn and do new things.

Here’s a visual diary of that trip.
